Lake Balaton is huge.
It is the largest freshwater lake in eastern Europe. It is about 75km long.
It is rarely more than three metres deep and especially along its southern shore
you need to walk out a very long way before it is even deep enough to swim.

It has been a holiday paradise for generations offering wonderful sailing and swimming,
and the many towns along its shores offer a whole range of holiday activities for the whole family.

There are many interesting towns to explore in the area 
and it has been an important wine growing region since Roman times.
